And maybe, Jim, just maybe, if they do not enter this year thinking the thing will fall into their lap (as previous years press clippings pretty much suggested - even last year, for reasons passing understanding) and that they have something to prove, they will take the challenge. I like hungry. I like proud guys who feel like they have something to prove, regardless of how long they have played. And pretty much our whole infield has something to prove. So does our youngster in CF. And maybe even Doc. Works for me. I am thinking it just might work for them too.

I'm with you, Drew. There's something about teams that aren't coronated in Spring Training that makes them more likely to win a World Series. I'd rather have the uphill battle. Of course, the Phils have that now, and may even still have it if they add a starting corner outfielder.

I think the whole thing is going to be really, really tough without a return of Halladay. I think it's going to be tough if they get a return of Halladay.

I'm very interested in 100-win regular seasons. Mostly just cause it means your team is great. If the team is great, I'll take our chances in the post-season.

Doc would make it easier.

I'm afraid that there is no solution to not having Doc back to being Doc. Of course, in 2008 we didn't have this Doc, nor this Lee, nor (I suppose one could argue) even this Hamels. And as I remember that year turned out ok.

I'm not real interested in winning 100 games or regular season win records. Maybe these guys just make it to the post season and get hot. I'm hoping our young guy in CF extends his career arc upward again, and our old guy at third can recapture former glory. If they do, we'll, maybe we get someplace.

But Doc would sure make it easier, huh.
