Yup. I'm hoping he can hit for a high enough average that all will be fine.

I think it would definitely be possible to offer too much for Stanton. He is rather awesome, however.

Still think it would be nice to see them add an outfielder. And a starter. And a setup guy. Too much to ask?

Revere also does not strike out.....and he's got one of the lowest rates of swing and "not miss" in ages. He gets tons of strikes because he has no power....so his lack of walks is very deceiving....his babip is also super good, as is his % of ground balls. So you really cant read much into his lack of BB. Just saying

Franco, huh? Ok. I'll mark that name.

Josh to Angels. Done deal confirmed.

I'm scared to death that we are about to waste another year by no filling the hole that needs filling.

BTW, Stanton. Would it be possible to offer the Fish too much for him?

Sounds like Hamilton may be going to the Angels for five years, $125 million.

I'm hoping for the best from Cody Asche. What about hitting .190 in the NY-Penn League with no power in 2011, though.

Funny that rumors of Hamilton staying in Texas get stronger as rumors of the Phillies interest get stronger as well. Something tells me that isn't a particularly good sign.

To answer a question from another thread, I think that Cody Asche has a decent chance to help the club in 2014, which may be impacting Amaro's attempts to fill the hole there. He's not going to be a superstar, but projects as a solid-average regular third baseman, which has tons of value when he is making the major league minimum. His minor league defensive numbers look a lot like Frandsen's defensive numbers at third last year, to give you an idea that he isn't going to win any gold gloves there. But his offensive numbers compare favorably to (dare I say it) Chase Utley at a similar age. Granted, nobody expected Utley to have the peak that he did and comparing any player to him is dangerous.

The third base prospect that I am super-excited about is Maikel Franco, but he is at least two years away. If he continues on his current trend, you're talking about a middle of the order bat with above average defense at third. THAT is a star.
