Seems like there’s a lot of question about what his role should be going forward. I think he should be a four OF who plays a corner OF position against left-handed pitching and can play center in an emergency. I think the Phillies think he’s more than that.

He’s not a center fielder. We shouldn’t be surprised he’s not good at playing center field. He was primarily a right fielder in the minors and is good in right defensively.

Ruf has been really good so far. I’m guessing they find some big holes in the swing before too long, but he sure has looked better up to this point than I was expecting. I can’t imagine they would go into 2013 with him as the primary guy in left without huge improvements elsewhere. I could imagine him being part of a platoon in left with Pierre or another lefty.
