My feeling exactly. I think there’s got to be a story behind what happened, but I’m not sure we’re ever going to hear it. Maybe they were just geeked up to try and score a bunch of runs for Cloyd and things went nuts? No idea, though.

Yes to all the above. When Utley went behind in the count I started to get ready to turn it off. And then there was that fastball that made Howard’s eyes get big and round.

Expecting it? Nope. I will next year (oh lordy may it be so), but I sure wasn’t last night.

But wasn’t it great to see?

Also, you know who I’m not sure the Phillies got the most of? Brandon Moss. Just thinking that cause today he’s hitting cleanup for the 84-64 Oakland A’s and doing his best to become the seventh player in Major League history to hit 20 home runs in 250 at-bats or less for a season. Right now he has 18 in 219 at-bats.

In 2011, Moss hit 275/368/509 at Triple-A for the Phillies, which earned him all of six plate appearances with the Phils. He became a free agent in October of last year.

Ugh.

Indeed. Hopefully he’s got a whole lot of that left in him, cause the Phils are going to be paying him a lot for a long time.
