I think the Phils are going to have a real hard time rebuilding if they think they’re going to use guys already in their system. I think they have one impact player and they’ve already brought him up. I hope Aumont is great, but he walks way too many hitters and has walked way too many hitters for a long time now.

In 2010, he walked 80 in 122 innings. That’s nuts. His walk rate as a reliever is worse than that this year — 32 walks in 39 2/3.

They’ve got 3 open slots on the 40-man right now (Galvis-restricted, Contreras & Hendron – 60-day DL). They could add him now if they wanted, assuming at least one of those 3 won’t need their spot back this year.

There’s also Aumont and De Fratus, both of whom are having at least decent AAA seasons out of the pen and are already on the 40-man. I’d rather see Cloyd try to start though.
