Kind of had a choice, didn’t they? The years and keep Cole OR less years and no Cole.

What would any of us do with a 28 year old guy like that. And a leftie to boot. Yup. The years are nuts. But he would not be here without them I bet.

Not to be a downer, but that’s a bad contract for Hamels. Very glad that he will be back pitching for the Phillies. Not very glad that they gave him that many years.

I will be surprised if the Phillies trade Pence. Less surprised if they trade Victorino, but I think there’s a chance they keep him too.

Is there really a difference between $137.5 million and $144 million? His grandchildren’s grandchildren won’t have to work either way. Either way, good for him. Now Ruben can get on with making some trades. Glad to see Victorino in the lineup so that he can be moved. I wonder if they have to move Pence now because they can’t afford him. Or maybe they trade Lee again.

I’m seeing $144 mil / 6 years. He wanted same $24 mil average as Cliff.

Either way, it’s a done deal, and Cole should basically be a Phillie lifer. Interesting to see what they do with the rest of the team now. There’s hope for ’12, but it’s awful slim. Rollins was quoted citing the ’07 Rockies as their inspiration.

Was fun last night, except for Doc. Back to backs in the 1st. Howard 3 for 5 with 3 ribbies. Utley 1 for 2 and 3 walks. Chooch 1 for 3 with 2 walks.

If our 3-4-5 holes do that a few more times it would maybe stay fun.

Fontenot was actually already gone. Poor reporting by your blogger. He hit for Schwimer and struck out for the first out in the seventh.

Among position players, I think the choices were Polanco or Kratz.

The whole thing seemed strange to me at the time. But it worked out great. I don’t think Howard scores from third on that play with that throw from Braun.
