Following up on a recent question regarding the prospects the Phillies received in the Lee trade, Tyson Gillies has been suspended ‘indefinitely’ for violating team rules. This kid really is a train wreck. Now I have to say, “if he can ever get healthy and get his head on straight, he’ll play in the majors.” He has a ton of talent and apparently a ten cent head.

I think you have to hit a real lefty for Lee there. Didn’t work out, but I like Pridie’s chances a lot better than Lee’s. I think the fact that your bullpen is awful is an argument for hitting for Lee — might as well try to win when you’ve got the bases loaded. Even if Lee could pitch the ninth, I don’t think he’s coming back to pitch the tenth. So I think it’s one more inning for Lee vs a much better chance to score with two outs and the bases loaded.

I wasn’t kidding. Partially because I was thinking through the guys on the bench, and thinking Lee’s at least as good a hitter as any of them and hits with the appropriate hand.

Last ten games the pen have a 7.04 ERA and a 1.52 ratio. Starters a 2.91 ERA and a 1.10 ratio.

So the starters have been better. Course the offense has only scored 35 runs, so we can’t blame everything on the pen.

Most things, though.

I think it’s a sign of the times that I’m not sure whether you’re kidding or not.

The bullpen is hard to watch. I kind of miss Qualls and if you kind of miss Qualls it’s a sure sign your pen is not good. How about just one reliable guy out there to start with and we’ll go from there?

Was I the only one thinking Lee should have hit for himself with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the ninth, so he didn’t have the to turn the game over to the pen?
