Ill take Thome being back. with 9 AL games in AL parks coming up, throw the big man in there. Cant be worse right? Probably be worth still batting some of our pitchers though…

Sounds good to me. It will at least look better on paper. The Phillies have to lead all of baseball in DH-only guys who’s only fielding contribution can be fielding grounders while sitting in a chair.

If we don’t have random obscure movie references, what do we have? Certainly not a good baseball team.

My hope for Mayberry is as follows: 2011 — 231/316/365 in 117 plate appearances through June 1. He didn’t appear for the Phils between 6/1 and 7/5, then hit 301/358/607 in 179 plate appearances after July 5.

2012 — 237/273/344 in 139 plate appearances through June 5. So all we’re missing in 2012 is the part where he’s an All-Star starting in early July. Halfway there.

I mentioned this in response to your comment in the previous post, but if you have the trying run on base in the bottom of the ninth and send Fontenot and Galvis to the plate to both strike out to end the game with Orr on deck if the game continues, it’s a sign of some issues.

Still, I’m more worried about the regulars than the role players. Polanco, Victorino, Rollins, Mayberry and Galvis all on-basing under .320 is a problem.
