Contreras is suddenly unhittable. I didn’t see that one coming for sure. Bastardo isn’t pitching a lot, but he’s had a good month when he has.

Nine runs after the start of the seventh is fun. The offense has been good in May. Not too far out of first place.

definitly a nice win. I thought Contreas and Bastardo both looked good too. Had to figure Valdes giving up some runs sooner or later. overall, good night. I like scoring 10 runs, esp 6 in the 9th.

Amaro says The Big Piece will not be back in June. And that he has no idea when.

Adding a bat in left would help. Not a journeyman bat either. How? Who? I have no idea. The Cards picked up some guy from the Giants this winter who looks kind of good. Yeah. Too late.

I agree things are looking a little bleak. I still think there’s hope, though, given how much firepower they have on the DL and how uncertain the return times are.

The Phils have actually played better than I had expected given the injuries. I definitely would have taken a game over .500 at this point if I knew we would still be without Howard and Utley and with no major additions. Obviously there’s a long way to go. I’m pretty sure that the team isn’t going anywhere without adding some better players, though.

So, when do the Eagles open training camp?

I really don’t want to be doom & gloom, but it’s getting hard to follow this mess on a day-to-day basis. Hope is certainly not lost, but I preferred the years when at least one of pitching and hitting was performing well regularly.
