Methinks the pitchers might tire of Wigginton costing them a run or so every game defensively before too much longer.

It’s the 8th inning. A couple of outs. And runs are scored. In some ways, runs are runs. But these runs are being produced by our core players. I have to tell you that these runs make me feel really really good because of that.

Having to mention this, just in my defense after the Worley goof… I have to say that I DID get the Brown thing right. He will never play regularly at the major league level; When i said that we ought to trade him for a serious prospect with a bat, I am pretty sure that I was right. Because at the moment, he would not bring a case of baseballs.

No one wants him. No one believes he will ever be worth anything. He is a bum. We should have gotten rid of him last year. Of course, that is spilled milk now.

Yep. Gonna be surprised if that one happens, but happily so.

Not sure the Phillies need three lefties in the pen if they aren’t going to use any of them. The LaHair homering off of Qualls thing last night was almost too much for me. You really don’t want Qualls facing a lefty that can hit the ball out of the yard in a big situation. I think it’s safe to say they’ve lost some confidence in Bastardo at this point.

There are 3 pitchers on the 40-man we haven’t called up yet. The only one doing anything is Jake Diekman, who has an 0.89 ERA in 11 innings. With a 1.45 WHIP..

No word on whether he can play third. Or first. Or left.

Speaking of left fielders, isn’t Oswalt still available?

I kinda think that any plan to trade a starting pitcher other than Blanton for a bat should be seriously scrutinized. The bad news is I don’t think the Phils can get much hitting for Blanton.

I also agree with Jim the list of possible call-up candidates isn’t so impressive. 13 pitchers? 14?

On another subject, y’all are kind not to be reminding me that last year I suggested that we trade Worely for a “serious bat”. I think I had the bat part right. But. It’s JUST possible I may have made a mistake in suggesting Worley.

I have a hard time imagining anyone other than Brown being called up. No, he’s not tearing up AAA. But there’s just not a lot of water in the well.

I agree that it seemed a little heavy on the walking of Stewart.

Brown really isn’t going much of anything at Triple-A — 265/311/361. I’m going to be a little surprised if the Phils call on him. They do have a lot of lefties on their bench, especially in games where Galvis starts at second.

I think the bullpen is a problem. Papelbon has been great, but there’s not a lot of depth there. Again, I think having Kendrick forced into the rotation with Lee sidelined doesn’t help either.
