Pence was awful today, both at the plate and in the field. The Phillies really need him.

If you were looking to take any positives from today’s game, I would go with two scoreless innings from Savery in which he looked good and the well-hit double by Rollins. I agree that’s not a lot.

Hopefully they will find Arizona an easier place to hit. I’d really like to see them hit the ball out of the yard some against the Snakes.

The thing that really scares me is not that the Phillies looked today like the wheels are coming off the wagon. Because the wheels DO look like they are coming off the wagon. Thome. Pence. Rollins. Polly.

What scares me is that it happened against the worst team in the league. And against pitchers about whom nothing has ever before been heard.

It has been a long, long time since Philadelphia has seen baseball played the way it was played today. I have no idea what Charlie does with this.

Lee to the DL is really not good news. Let’s hope it’s really just 2 or 3 starts. I will be glad to see Kendrick, but the Phillies could really use him pitching out of the pen. Not much confidence in Contreras out there and Stutes had an ugly line last night.

More fantastic pitching from the Phils, glad to see them get the win and glad to see Victorino homer. Three scoreless innings for the pen.

Hamels not as sharp but has become a battler. A good win for him.

Vic ought to get ticked off more often.

It says here that Thome is a first ballot Hall of Famer. But he just looks like he can’t do it very well any more.

Golly he was awful last night. I don’t know what’s wrong. If the bad news is that he’s not as good as he was last year, the good news is that he’s not as bad as he’s been this year.

Unless he’s hurt, I think sooner or later the results will get better. Hopefully they at least find a way to get him in there every time the Phillies face a lefty in the short term. I’d think about how often I play him against righties when he looks this awful, though. Against a righty, I’d rather see Nix in the lineup until Mayberry gets going. Last night it was Mayberry against the righty with Nix on the bench and Mayberry was miserable.
