I agree. Thrilled to see Mayberry go 2-for-4, even with two strikeouts. Just about anybody besides Wigginton (okay, Thome, Burrell, but most guys) would have scored on his double. Also had the only extra-base hit in the game for the Phils. Nice way to start after looking terrible during Spring Training.

Wigginton had a great game, but man that guy is slow. It’s really tough to see how the play at first in the second inning can even be close. Walker was way on the other side of short, way behind second, got up and still threw him “out.” He was safe, but it still shouldn’t be close. Also no score from first on Mayberry’s double.

Looked really good at first, though, with a couple of nice plays.

Not a pretty offense. Freddy, my lad, where did the spring RBIs go? Today was called an “opportunity”.No pressure, of course. But work on that, would you?

Dancing in my head are visions of Wigginton on second and Thome on first and needing a run to tie it in the ninth. If we could get Burrell as a runner on third it just might be the slowest gaggle of guys in baseball history.

offense was a mess. 8 hits, Halladay gets one of em. haha. Chooch 3-3 though and Mayberry 2-4 right?

Maybe its a good thing Halladay is in decline? 8 inning of shutout ball by the starter and give it to Paps to finish the 9th. good recipe for this offense.

What was all of that about Halladay losing it? Still would be nice if he could get the other team to score negative runs.

Man this offense is ugly.

Never a doubt. I don’t see any reason that Halladay can’t pitch on Saturday as well given the off-day tomorrow.

In Charlie’s defense, they can’t all hit eighth. Against a lefty, with those starters I think I’d go Rollins/Victorino/Pence/Mayberry/Wigginton/Ruiz/Polanco/Galvis.

On the other hand, the way they’re hitting it’s not going to matter a lot what order they hit in. Ruiz 2-for-2 at least. And a hit for Mayberry. Would prefer if Pittsburgh would stop hammering the ball to left if the Phils aren’t going to score, though.
