I'm not sure that Halladay and Lee are out of it for the Cy Young. I'd say that Kershaw is the front-runner, but I think both Halladay and Lee will finish in the top four in the voting and could still pull it out. Kershaw has been rather amazing in the second half, going 11-1 with a 1.23 ERA is his 13 starts.

Hopefully for both Halladay and Lee the chance to win a World Series means a whole lot more than the Cy Young.

Bottom of the 8th inning, Tuesday evening. Phillies have two hits after dropping the first game this afternoon. This has not been a good weekend for the Phillies pitching staff. They have lost two, count them, TWO shots at the Cy Young; certainly Doc and Lee are both out of it now. And Kendrick was asked to pitch for an unrecogizable Phillies team. And yes, they know that it is important to rest players and yes I bet they know that there was likely to be a let down after clinching. Still. I bet it does not feel all that good for that pitching staff.

Kendrick has almost inarguably been better than Oswalt this season. I didn't really see that one coming into the year. I've become a true Herndon fan. I think he not only makes the post-season roster this year, but that the Phils will use him. Martinez could make the post-season roster, but I'm ready to storm the Bastille if they use him.
