I definitely believe the Amaron-is-hard-to-work with theory. I truly wouldn't be too surprised if it were the case that there's exactly one person in the organization who thinks Michael Martinez on the roster all year is a good idea.

Here's Conlin's article. I have no idea.

I'm assuming LaMar is the resignation to which you refer. Nobody knows for sure, but the most believable speculation centers around Amaro not being an easy guy to work for and wanting to demote LaMar. The Bill Conlin theory being floated around seems pretty difficult for me to believe based upon his "source" being all but totally made up and a bunch of other people saying Conlin is speaking out of his a$$, but you never really know.

I still feel pretty good about Madson. At least compared to the rest of the pen. I agree with you about the lack of call-ups. I think they could have used more depth in the pen.

Not sure what resignation you mean? The only recent surprise resignation I can think of is Chuck LaMar?

Even Madson does not seem to be really in control of thigns when he comes in. Maybe everyone needs time down. I continue to question why there has not been a September call up. There ought to be more arms and players available.

BTW, anyone know anything about the minor league surprise resignation?

And Oswalt. I wouldn't mind if he pitches nine innings come October, either. I'm also hoping for nine innings at a time for those guys, not altogether for the month for each of them.

The other guy who worries me, other than Oswalt, all the hurt guys, Bastardo and everyone else in the pen besides Madson, is Victorino. 186/269/329 over his last 78 plate appearances. Home run yesterday or not, how about some days off?

Yep. I think that there is cause for concern. Better now than in a few weeks, but let's hope he gets it fixed real soon. There's really only two guys in the pen I have a lot of confidence in and he's one of them.

The Phils had a problem with not enough lefties in the bullpen when Bastardo could get people out.
