I'm kind of a little worried about Utley in general. Great to see him hit one out yesterday. 226/285/353 over his last 144 plate appearances since July 31. Last year the worry was that his power against righties was lacking. This year he's been good against righties (287/366/482) but not hitting lefties (202/286/340 after pounding them to a 294/422/581 line last year). So I have no idea.

People make a big deal about what Howard does against lefties, but he's been better against lefties than Utley has this year. Howard is at 236/293/366 -- better in all three of the slash categories than Utley.

During the off-season last year, I was writing about the problems Utley and Howard were having against right-handed pitching. This year they are both doing better against righties, but not hitting lefties at all.
