The Giants are in a pretty big hole. Six games out with 25 left to play. It would be nice to keep their pitching out of the post-season, but there are other good teams in the NL, too. The Braves and the Brewers both worry me.

It totally would. I’m sure they thought about it, but I really don’t see how they have space to put him on the roster. Like I said before, I’d happily give him Martinez’s spot.

starting lineup on phillies.com just showed Mayberry in left, batting 6th. Not sure that’s “official” i guess but take it for what its worth.

The would be fun. I’m in. Even be willing to sacrifice Martinez’s spot on the roster for him, not that I think it’s going to happen. I’m having a tough time getting too excited about Bowker.

On a completely unrelated note, I’m curious to see who plays left tonight against the lefty. Before Ibanez went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer last night I would have said Mayberry for sure. Now I would guess Ibanez, but wouldn’t feel real sure at all.

I agree that the goal here was to find a Gload clone. I don’t really think they did it, though, cause a healthy Gload is significantly better than a healthy Bowker. Still, Gload isn’t healthy and he has been terrible this year.

I am interested in seeing some of Moss and I think we will before the end of the year, if only for a handful of at-bats.

I don’t share Greg’s intense fear of Dontrelle Willis, although if it’s turn back the clocks to 2005 night in Cincy there may be cause for concern. I like the chances for the Phils when they start Hamels, Halladay and Lee in a series against a team playing about .500.

I doubt Moss will get called up. Bowker hits for a higher average, although it looks like Moss has more power. Bowker can play some infield, whereas Moss hasn’t been anything other than an OF’er since 2008. It looks to me like they were looking for a Ross Gload clone.

Nice to see the Phils continue to score runs even after the game was pretty much over. Also nice to see Doc “only” throw 108 pitches, although that seems like a lot for him for 7 innings. I’m interested to see what they do with Willis today, as he is the sort of pitcher than can really throw them for a loop.

Did anyone else’s TV crack last night during the bottom of the 7th? Doc was a bit upset…

my initial reaction to the Bowker pickup was ‘Huh?’ I assume Moss will come up too and I see him as a better fit than this no? Although i do admit, I am not fully up on all the roster rules and where and when a player needs to be here or there for him to be called up past 9/1 so maybe there is more to it.

anyways, good game last night. Ibanez homer was a plus. Phils Win, Braves lose, BrewCrew lose. cant ask for more than that!
