I don’t think Pence is as good as Werth, but he’s good. I don’t really think playing Domonic Brown down the stretch and hopefully through the playoffs was an option.

We’ve been asking for Amaro to trade for a right-handed corner outfielder for a long time now. He just did. Losing Singleton and Cosart might hurt, but I think it was worth it.

The plusses he brings are huge: a massive defensive upgrade, decent power, hitting for average, and a dirty uniform. If he can get Howard to relax and trust the five hitter to carry his own weight, we may even see a better Ryan Howard. That might be the biggest plus of this whole thing.

Obviously Singleton and Cosart are the center pieces. Cosart was a favorite of mine but I think I like May more so I was happy to NOT see him included. Singleton really didnt have a spot on this team in the foreseeable future wihch is a shame but its not like they gave him away. I am happy to get Pence along with him for the next two seasons as well. I really hope he can settle in now and bring his post all start break numbers up…
