I would also put the odds on Madson returning higher than neither he nor Rollins returning. I think it’s Madson, both, Rollins, neither in that order.

That is, of course, as of today. Still waiting to see what RAJ pulls off on the trade market for an OF bat.

This is the last year of Lidge’s contract, isn’t it? I’m betting they bring back Madson and give him closer money, if his season continues the way it’s started (minus the freak injury).

My first guess would be neither, second guess just Madson, third guess both, fourth guess just Rollins.

I’m encouraged on Lidge. I especially think it’s a good sign that the PHils brought him into a one-run game. The bullpen was great today, just not great enough to overcome Lee’s outing. Glad to see Lidge, Carpenter and Stutes all pitch well.

My guess is that one of Madson/Rollins comes back next year. Maybe both if Oswalt decides to retire. Possibly neither if the team goes big in LF.

I couldn’t see the game today, but Lidge’s line looks good. Thoughts?

I’ve kind of been assuming the Phils will lose both Rollins and Madson after this year. My guess would be that Madson may choose to go somewhere else and Rollins will want to come back, but be too expensive. I really don’t think the Phils should give Rollins a big contract after this year. Always kind of pictured him in California. I’d love to have Madson back.

Great might be strong for Pence, but I do think if you’re looking for a right-handed corner outfielder you could do a lot worse. And the Phils need a right-handed corner outfielder.

You and I may have to agree to disagree on Pence. I don’t think he is great. He is certainly an upgrade over Ibanez, but his salary for next year means the team will likely lose either Madson or Jimmy this off-season. We’ll all know for sure what is happening this time next week.

I think they need to let Madson close. I don’t mind not letting him close three days in a row after coming off the DL. I think Bastardo can’t be the closer 1) because Madson is better and 2) the Phils need him to get out lefties.

Pence is great. Beltran can hit. I wouldn’t give up Brown to get either one of them, but I’d be glad to have either of them.

Was happy to see Bastardo in the 9th inning yesterday and not Madsen again. They are going to need Ryan in October.

The power from Utley on Saturday was also a welcome sight.

On trade talks, I don’t see anybody that has been discussed to the point offensively that would be enough of an upgrade to pay the asking price. I wouldn’t mind Beltran if the price isn’t high. Don’t particularly care for Pence no matter what the price is. Upton from TB maybe? Not sure he’d be worth the price either. Do feel like the team needs at least one, maybe two more bullpen pieces. Stutes is starting to show some cracks and right now I only have confidence with Bastardo and Madsen on the mound.
