Even in mid-May when Seattle went on their tear and won 9-of-10, it didn’t get a whole lot of attention. People know about Hernandez, though. And a lot of people know about Pineda and Ackley. I think a lot of people remember Carp, too, from when he was a prospect with the Mets. Still, for most casual fans I think it’s still Ichiro and King Felix. I’d love to see Seattle make another run at the playoffs before Ichiro is done.

If the young guys that have been brought up continue to perform (Halman, Ackley, Peguro and Carp) the M’s have an edge over the Rays for the wild card. Of course I am biased, but I get tired of the lack of recognition that this team gets. If the east coast writers would stay up and watch a game or two, then maybe we wouldn’t always see the same stories about the same 6 teams all year long.

I grew up in San Diego watching NL games. It took me a long time to adjust to the AL. I think I still prefer making the pitcher hit. I’d like to see NL rules played at AL parks and vise versa during interleague play. Something that we’re going to get her next week with the Marlins (The games were supposed to be in Florida but moved for a U2 concert, so they are away games played at home).

Looks like they could use some more offense. Felix Hernandez and Michael Pineda are some pretty exciting pitchers, though.

Just saying that I don’t like playing AL teams. I doubt that they will get to the playoffs (Rangers, Yankees, Red Sox, Rays all are better) but they will be in the hunt until the end with that pitching. They just can’t score any runs. The Mariners are pitching as well as any team right now and are getting timely hits from young talent. I’m not saying that they’ll go far in the playoffs this year, but they’ll get there. If this team was from east of the rockies, ESPN would be all over them. 21-12 since the middle of May winning 7 series including ones against the Yankees, Twins and Rays. If you don’t know about this team, it’s not because they don’t deserve the attention.
