Tuesday night. I heard that a wise man recently said that there might be reason to worry about the offense, an offense that might allow Randy to slaughter Roy. Is this what it feels like falling down the rabbit hole?

Mitch Stetter. Pitched the tenth and looked pretty good doing it. I was surprised we didn't see him earlier in the game against Gload or Ibanez. Worked out okay for Milwaukee.

Stetter was awful in the minors last year (6.86 ERA and a 1.52 ratio awful), but has allowed one hit in seven appearances so far this season (a home run to Ryan Hanigan).

I will say, however, that I do not know how any lefty hitter could stay in the box against that lefty the BrewCrew brought in late last night. sorry, i do not remember his name at the moment but I know he faced Ibanez and K'd him. He looked like he was pitching from 1st base!

Yup. 1-5 in the opening game of the series. 0-5 in the last five.

I agree with Bill that Polanco's line drive off of Mitre should have been a hit and if it was it would have changed the game. Betancourt made a pretty fantastic play.

I think Marcum's really good. He just doesn't throw hard. Agree the offense doesn't look like they can hit much of anyone these days. Hopefully that changes against Wolf today. I think we're going to see someone else getting chances to play right, Mayberry or Gload, more often if Francisco doesn't pick it up soon.

I also agree that losing Romero isn't a huge deal. Not sure that Zagurski is going to be solid, but wasn't sure Romero was either.

I wouldn't mind Zagurski. I was hoping for/expecting him over Bastardo this year, although the bastard has done some things to change my mind. Romero hasn't actually been an outstanding pitcher since the tainted supplement fiasco, so I'm not sure there's much of a downgrade with Zagurski. Of course, he needs to prove he can get Major League outs.

The offense will be what the offense will be. That was a torrid pace they were on.. we can call this period "regression to the mean".

Don't forget that the Phils only lose the first game of a series. They're undefeated in games 2-4. 1-5 now in series openers?

Being a Diredtv customer and living in the Phils market, I was happy to get to watch the game last night.... but I'm not bitter!

anyways, glad to see Blanton have a good go. Hopefully it quieted the "skip blanton starts whenever possible!!" crowd. The local sports show I listen to on the way home from work has a guy who seriously wants the phils to go to a 4 man rotation i think.

The bats make me scratch my head. The Chris Young game and Marcum last night both throw basically batting practice and it just baffles these guys. I'm not saying I could hit against them either but it seems to me a big league roster should be able to plate a few runs against these types of pitchers.

The freak ball that Betencourt caught was a real killer though, that ball gets through and I think we have a different result.

Yep. I think there's good cause to be worried about the offense. Through the first 12 games of the season, the Phils didn't lose a game when they got a good start from their starter. Now they've lost twice in three games when they got a good start.

Can't help to lose Romero, either. I'll be curious who the Phils call on to replace him. Zagurski seems like the obvious choice. He's been awesome to start the year with the IronPigs. He has struck out seven in 3 1/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A so far.
