Well, it gets serioue for the first time now, doesn't it. Atlanta, here we come. I saw the ERAs of the three guys we will face; impressive. Maybe this will be a hard series for us. But then again, maybe the Phillies will reality test the Braves' ambitions for this year.

Today was pretty amazing. The Phillies seem to be in one of those offensive feeding-frenzy modes they slip into from time to time where everyone hits, one after another, with everyone jumping into the action. The Braves might want to hope that the Phillies have sated their hunger on the Mets.

That's why he gets the big money. Don't often get a chance to see Roy Halladay walk the leadoff hitter on four pitches.

With you on the mouth throw-up. Orr and Valdez actually have pretty similar career lines against righties. 267/290/344 for Orr and 259/304/342 for Valdez. Seems like Orr should be a lot better, but he's not. It's not like Valdez has really lit them up either, though.

Given the options they have, I don't mind Orr either. I guess it was just the thought of actually seeing him and/or Valdez in games in October (assuming the team gets that far) that made me throw up a little in my mouth.

I think he let him stay in just cause of how long the bullpen went in game one and he wanted to save them if he could. I don't know for sure, though.

I'm with you on impressed with Francisco.

I actually like Orr against a righty. There's definitely not much drop off offensively from Valdez. I thought it was a nice move to play the lefties last night and avoid starting Schneider against the lefty in a day game. On the other hand, I agree it would be nice to have someone with some more upside than Orr in that slot.

I was happy to see the Phils come back and take the lead in the bottom of the fifth after Blanton gacked it up in the top of the inning. I was watching the game in a local establishment with no volume...was there a particular reason that Charlie didn't get Blanton out of the game sooner? The only thing I could think of was that he wanted to get him through the inning for a win, but it was pretty obvious watching at home that he had nothing.

Great night from the pen. Hopefully Halladay can go 7+ this afternoon and give them all a rest.

Benny Fresh has certainly grown on me. I was a big proponent of just putting Brown out there and letting him play before he got hurt, but the injury could wind up being a blessing in disguise. I knew that Francisco would be OK, but I didn't think he'd be this good.

Certainly glad to see Howard swinging the bat so well. Speaking of the lineup, I nearly drove off of the road when I heard Orr was in the starting lineup while on the way to my local establishment. I believe it may be time to up my research efforts for Chase's knee...
