I was thinking of you in the third inning last night. Not an impressive showing for Hamels. I agree that the offense reminded a bit of 2010, too. Nice to see Francicso hit two balls that would have been out on most nights, though.

Just back from the game pitched by our 4th ace. NOT. Grisly game on both sides of the ball. One thing is clear; if any team thinks Hamels is capable right now of being a No. 1 on whose shoulders rests the weight of the rest of the staff, all they have to do is look at his body language in the third inning of the game. Disappointing.

One other thing is clear. Memories of last Year's offensive lapses are not at all gone.

I take the under on 108 walks for Polanco, too. I'd be pretty happy with 50, though. Not holding my breath.

Leading Martinez off isn't a good idea. Neither is having him on the team, as far as I can tell.

I agree about an earlier hook than usual for Manuel in the early going. I don't think it will be long before we start seeing Halladay and the like going 115+. The other thing that's surprised me is bunting with Valdez in game three. He really doesn't bunt with a position player very much. Mixed feelings on that one, but I do agree with him that Valdez can't hit.

I'm glad that Charlie seems to be using his pen early this season instead of pushing the starters the one extra inning. It seems like that is something he would usually do, especially considering they only went 6-7-6. Hopefully that bodes well for them being effective all season.

Polanco on a pace for 108 walks. That would be fantastic, especially if Rollins, Howard, and Francisco continue to hit over .400.

I about choked on my Yuengling when I saw Martinez leading off. Hopefully Vic is OK. He seemed to be fine later in the game.

I hate the Mets.

I saw that, too. Long time ago. They were pretty awesome this weekend and Friday's game was a great way to get the season started. Looking forward to the series with the Mets. I hate the off-days early in the season.

Don't look now, but the 3-0 Phils are averaging 7 runs/game..

Saw an interesting stat: the last time the Phils opened a season with a 3-game series sweep, it was 1899.
