I think they can solve all their problems by trading for a lefty who can hit and plays both third base and corner OF. Not sure that guy exists, though, so I'd take a lefty who can hit and play second and corner OF.

I think they might have to do something before June/July. The offense isn't looking so good right about now.

Yes, the three homers an outing thing would get old really quick, what with giving up 100 a year an all.

I don't think that the Phillies will do anything now unless the Utley injury is much more serious than they are letting on. If they make a move now, Utley is done for the season. Otherwise, I think they are just going to take the model of years past and get whatever pieces they need in June/July.

What I want to see is if Mayberry can manage to slug .750 and still on-base .320. It seems like it would be impossible, but if anyone can, Mayberry can.

I second Amaro for the sayer-of-things-that-aren’t-true-and-the-truth-is-much-better guy Hall of Fame.

Cole is a badass. I love the I-don't-know-him-personally-but-he's-a-wonderful-person stuff. It would be better if he didn't give up three home runs per 3 2/3 innings, though, cause that will get tiring.

I can say this: if the Phils add a significant player *without* cutting salary elsewhere, we'll know they're officially on the Yankee model. Personally, I find it more likely that Amaro can trade money for money, or he has his eye on some young bubble guys that might help us more than the current collection of designated fielders.

Hmmm.. SOMEday Amaro will be right about not being able to make a trade. Do we think it is now, with all the money they have poured into this year? Would they NOT go for it with all the money they have already invested if they thought that it would all go to waste without a trade? Stay tuned, sports fans, for more of Reuban's amazing ride.

Question: If Manny being Manny is not funny, is Cole being Cole still a knee slapper?

I love whenever Amaro says anything. He's my favorite sayer-of-things-that-aren't-true-and-the-truth-is-much-better guy. Who knows? Maybe he's being honest this time. At this rate, I'm ready for Mayberry to slug .750 for the year in right. No big deal.
