Agreed about Valdez. And someone new on the corner would be my vote as well. Has to be able to hit high in the order. Polly goes to second. Yup. I believe he has had some success there with the leather.

Rollins at a buck eighty does nothing for my happiness.

I vote for getting a 3B and letting Polanco play second. It warms my heart just to think about it. Also, I'm really tired of hearing about how great Wilson Valdez was last year. He really, really wasn't.

Uh huh.

Speaking of boxes, if Utley is not able to play, the Phillies are in one. Box, that is. They have gone all in to win right now. The payroll is affordable assuming they go deep into the post season. Without Utley, our three hole hitter, the infield is simply not going to get this team into the post season. The patch jobs that anyone can come up with just will not get it done. Rollins' offensive problems only exacerbate the urgency attached to Utley's possible absence.

Outside the box to me means outside the organization. They have to go get someone IF Utley is not going to be back.

Good idea. Or that could let Gload stand in right and we would all know he was just a DH and they were playing with two outfielders. I do have some tough images of Ibanez trying to cover all of left and part of center, though.

I like it Jim. Shows a little "outside the box" thinking there from management. That may be why they are signing so many infielders.

Perhaps the Phils should consider fielding only 2 outfielders when righties pitch. Put Raul in Left, and Vic in Right-Center, and go with it.

Perhaps the NL will allow the Phils to use a DH if they give up a fielder. Then you could get Gload into the lineup. Otherwise, we can just line up a wall of 5 good-fielding, soft-hitting infielders, tell the pitchers to throw ground balls, and hope you can win 1-0.
