The vast majority of Francisco’s playing time has been in the tougher league where his numbers were (slightly) better than last year which was his first full season in the National League. Last year was also the first full year more or less that Benny Fresh was relegated to a bench-playing role.

I don’t think those factors are merely coincidental.

As I said before, right is the part of this team that stands out like a sore thumb for being average at best. Hard for me to imagine that the trading deadline is in Amaro’s mind for when he does something about the situation in right. My guess (hope) is much sooner.

I don’t really think that Francisco can be the guy in right every day against righties. There needs to be someone else. Hopefully it’s Brown and hopefully Brown is good enough to take at-bats away from Francisco against lefties. I’m going to be pretty surprised if Francisco can on-base .340 against righties in 2011, and that’s not good enough to have him playing in right field.
