Imagine the Phils at the poker table with Washington and Boston and who ever signs Lee. Washington shows a Werth, the Sox show a nice Crawford, Lee is on the table, and the Phils trump ‘em all with Dennys Reyes!

eh, I’m just joking around a bit. Although I am a bit worried that his first name is too close to Danys. Gosh, I hope he doesnt turn out like that….

I’m not sure what the Nationals would want for Willingham. I think the Phillies would be a lot happier signing a free agent if they could. This article says that they would want pitching if they traded him.

Lots of places say that they shopped him last winter, but were asking too much for him. I’m pretty sure they won’t be giving him away.

I’m not sure what the Nats think they are this year. They’re fresh off yet another last place finish, yet they’re in the free agent market like they’re 1 or 2 pieces away from a championship. Oh, and they couldn’t even retain the face of their own franchise.

I don’t know their exact needs.. but it make take someone like Rollins to get them to return the call.

I think there’s a problem where you’re the right-handed guy in a platoon and you can’t hit righties. I agree that if he was a straight platoon guy he would put up nice numbers against lefties. I think he would be forced to hit against righties a lot though — more than the left-handed guy is going to have to hit lefties.

I agree there’s a big difference if you’re just a platoon guy, though, and I think his numbers would look good if he got to hit mostly against lefties. Given that he’s not 27 yet, and that he hit 29 homers when he was 22-years-old, he’s going to get a lot more chances to hit against righties before people give up on him. I think it’s for the best that that happens with some other team. He never even walked in the minors, where he on-based .332, but even that number was inflated cause he hit for a higher average (.285 in the minors). I don’t think he’s ever going to walk enough.

In Francisco’s defense he has never been given any regular playing time as a phillie, so you would think his numbers would increase based on that alone. So before I trade for some one I’d like to see him get a chance, at least in a platoon role.

Im with you guys on Willingham but agreed that its a long shot. I was very much for Rowand is he was the Rowand of Phillie’s Past but the Rowand of Giants(?) Present is not very appealing.

Of all the names tossed around, the most intriguing to me is Cody Ross (who is a long shot). Based on this write-up I could get behind Willingham too.
