I think it's a lock that Votto is going to do some damage in the series. That's not going to be enough for Cincinnati, though, so I think the question is who else is going to contribute if anyone. Bruce went 10-for-25 with four homers to end the season. So he should scare you. I think Phillips and Rolen are the question marks -- they are both scuffling coming into the series.

I've always liked Rolen. Hope he has a miserable series, though.

It would not hurt me at all to see Scott Rolen hobbled. I know it isn't nice of me to say that, but they have to be a lot less dangerous without him. Besides, I cannot stand the guy.

I hope not. I guess it's possible, but I would be surprised. Maybe if they are really, really worried about the health of Rollins. I guess he might have some added appeal as a pinch-runner, but I don't think it would be a great use of a roster spot. Sweeney, Gload, Dobbs combine to take up three roster spots with guys you could never use to pinch run, but I still think it would be a mistake.

We should see if we can get them to lay down a big sheet of paper at CBP before Wednesday.

162 is a lot of game to have another team score more runs than you do. I think we have to conclude that the Reds can hit. They sure scored a lot of runs this year.

It seems like Rolen has been slowed at the end of the year. He's been bad since the start of September, hitting 241/326/342. He's been a big part of their offense this year and Phillies fans know about his health issues. I think the Reds are going to have trouble without him, even with Bruce homering every day. Phillips has been even worse, hitting 198/277/292 since the start of September. I do think Cincy can win the series, but it's going to be tough if they don't get help from that pair.

Votto and Bruce scare me without lefties in the pen. I don't really know what the plan is to get those guys out late in a close game. Hopefully the Phils aren't playing a lot of close games late. I think pitch-around is going to be the answer -- let's hope the Phils don't get burned. If somebody tells you the Phils are going to let Romero or Bastardo go after Votto or Bruce with the game on the line and a chance to pitch around them, I don't really believe them.

I think Dobbs pretty much has to make the list as your back-up to Valdez at 3B (and emergency 2B). Although, realistically, if it gets that far the Phillies aren't going to continue through the post-season anyway. The last thing I want to see is Ruiz at third. I definitely feel better about Gload/Sweeney as my L/R DH options than I have in years past. I know, I'm looking ahead a bit, but I'm just sayin.

My prediction of Phils take 2/3 from the Braves and Padres sweep Giants so that they all had the same record was *thisclose* to coming true. Stupid Padres getting shut out.

As to the actual point of the article, It seems to me that the Phillies have the advantage at every point offensively except homeruns. I'm assuming that tomorrow will be related to the starting pitching, which again my assumption would be that the Phillies have a big advantage, much larger than they do in hitting. So, on paper, the Phillies should walk. Are they playing these games on paper yet?
