Phils not hot to trot on Nixon
January 20
2007
Trot Nixon signed with the Cleveland Indians and will get a one-year deal for $3 million. The Phils are presumably still looking for a left-handed outfielder.
The Devil Rays released 32-year-old right-handed reliever Shinji Mori, who missed last season with a torn labrum. He last pitched in Japan in 2005, throwing to a 4.22 ERA in 49 innings for the Seibu Lions. He struck out 60. Waived by the Devil Dogs might not be a good sign, though.
Craig Wilson agreed to a one-year deal with the Braves under which he'll make $2 million. That's unfortunate. But a right side of the infield that featured Martin Prado and Scott Thorman might have been too much to hope for.
There's a review of Phillies in action in the various winter leagues on the team's web site. Chris Roberson is suddenly hitting.
